Agnes Marie (Arata) Stocks, age 96 of Memphis, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 23 rd , 2023. She was a devoted worker at Thrifthaven Baptist School for 30 years and was a dedicated and loved charter member of East Side Baptist Church.

Agnes "Aggie" was one of twelve children of the late Robert and Carrie Arata and was often described by friends and family as "one of a kind." She is preceded in passing by her son Charles (Chuck) Stocks, her brother Robert Arata and her sisters, Marion Strom, Helen Spruill, Marion Stampley and Dorothy Cole.

She leaves behind her daughter, Melinda Stocks Thornton, grandsons, Ryan Taylor Spearman, Brandon Thornton, Freddie Thornton, a granddaughter, Shannon Thornton, four great-grandchildren, brothers William (Bill) Arata (Jane), Merrell (Sonny) Arata, Patrick Arata (Enita), sisters Theresa McNamara, Margaret Steele, Mary Ashton and a host of nieces and nephews who adored and loved her for her devotion to family and quick sense of humor.

Services will be held at East Side Baptist Church, 3232 Covington Pike, Memphis, Tennessee on Friday, September 29 th , 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:30 p.m. with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Any donations should be sent to Kings Daughters & Sons Nursing Home.
