BERTA K. BETHANY, 82, affectionately known as "Mama K", passed away September 24, 2024. She was born October 29, 1941 in Truman, Arkansas to Lionel and Margaret Pinkston. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Penny J. Baker and her daughter Emily M. Bethany. Berta "Mama K" was a wonderful and loving mother to her family and she was dearly loved by all. She's survived by her daughter, Robbie Bethany; her grand-god children Desmond (Tiffany) Sydes, Erin (Casey) Gurno, Lily Thornton and Skye Sydes; her great grand-god children Sophia Sydes, David and Michael Gurno, and Felix Romero, whose arrival (in November 2024) was greatly anticipated by "Mama K". She devoted her entire life to serving her community in government service, beginning in the Department of Agriculture Cotton Classing, then to Public Health and the final twenty years of her career as a Hearing Clerk for the Social Security Office of Hearings and Appeals in Memphis, Tennessee. Berta enjoyed watching Jeopardy on TV, playing word search puzzles, and Yahtzee, but her most passionate pastime was watching her favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves with her feline companion, Kai sitting on her lap. Her family and loved ones will have an intimate gathering to
