Obituary

Carolyn Ann (Bettell) Foster, 76, of Ruston, LA entered the presence of her dear Savior on Monday, July 28, 2025 in Bartlett, TN.

Carolyn was born on February 6, 1949 in Shreveport, LA, the youngest daughter of Buril and Ruby Bettell. After graduating from Dubach High School in 1967, she attended Louisiana Tech to pursue a degree in elementary education but even more importantly to meet the love of her life, Ricky Foster. After graduating, Carolyn and Ricky were married on August 21, 1970 and soon began a traveling adventure with the Air Force across the country and around the world with their two daughters whom she deeply loved. In Goldsboro, NC, Pastor Robert E. Lee knocked on the Foster's door and shared the Good News of the Gospel with Carolyn who was pregnant with their youngest daughter. In 1975, Carolyn made the most important decision of her life and trusted in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Wherever the military (and the Lord) moved them, she and Ricky immediately became faithfully involved in a local church where God's Word was clearly taught. She obtained a Masters in Education and enjoyed teaching in public, private, and Christian schools across the U.S., as well as homeschooling her girls in Germany. In 1997 after retiring from the Air Force, Ricky and Carolyn returned to Ruston, LA. In her "retirement years," she continued to enjoy teaching, ministering in her local church, and spending time with family. She was a member of Rock Corner Baptist Church in Dubach, LA. Carolyn was comforted in knowing her children and grandchildren are all followers of Christ.

Carolyn, more lovingly known as Grammy, is survived and beloved by her husband, Ricky Foster, in Bartlett, TN; her daughter Elizabeth Taylor and husband Josh, of Indianapolis, IN, and their two sons, Caleb and Gabe; her daughter Amanda Seibert and husband Kevin, of Bartlett, TN, and their children Lauren (Austin) Green, Sabrina, and Gavin; and her great grandchildren William and Elizabeth Green. She is survived by many cherished family members, church family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, Bobby Gene Bettell, Mary Goodgion, Jerry Bettell, Tommy Bettell, and Randy Bettell.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2025 at East Side Baptist Church, 7981 US Hwy 70, Bartlett, TN 38133 with visitation at 2 p.m. The family invites all who loved her to come, share memories, and honor her life with sweet fellowship together.

Carolyn's body will be laid to rest at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Her family is thankful that she has a new heavenly home forever with her Lord. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭23‬:‭6‬
