Donald L. Redding Sr., affectionately known as “Redd,” passed away on February 23, 2026, in Covington, Tennessee, he was on Hospice care at that time, he was 95yrs old. Donald was born on November 18, 1930, to Horace Redding and Alma Adams. He was raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he attended Pershing High School. A hardworking and dependable man, Donald dedicated 40 years of service to the Chrysler Corporation, where he built a reputation for his commitment and strong work ethic. Donald was also known for his beautiful baritone voice, a gift that brought joy to those who had the pleasure of hearing him sing. He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty years and the mother to five of his children, Maryion Woods Redding, his mother Alma Adam, and father Horace Redding his son Donald Redding Jr. his brothers Charles Curley and Harold Redding.
Donald remarried to Dorothy Moore who brought her 3 children to the marriage. Donald leaves behind seven children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends including his wife Dorothy Moore and his brothers, Sidney Curley and Alan Curley, who will cherish his memory and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Donald will be interred in Detroit, Michigan, where he will rest among family and the city that was such an important part of his life.
