IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doreen Faith
Terry-Dubroff
September 5, 1938 – August 6, 2023
Doreen Faith Terry-Dubroff - affectionately called "Doe-Doe" by her husband Gary - left this life on August 6, 2023 after a multi-year battle with Parkinsons Disease. She was born September 5, 1938 in Rochester N.Y.; the first born child of Frank and Angelina DiPasquale. She was followed in birth by three sisters; Diane, Dawn, and Dale. Doreen was a career school teacher, who taught hundreds of elementary school students over multiple decades, as well as teaching teachers how to teach late in her career. She was beloved by students and fellow teachers for going beyond the call of duty; she would organize plays, musicals, trips, fall events, Christmas events...often with the help of her mother and father. She was an avid photographer and scrapbooker; a lover of nature and the outdoors; a piano player and a lover of music, and of various card and board games. As a child, she grew up in a protestant Italian home - something virtually unheard of in Rochester New York's "Little Italy." As a baby, she was secretly baptized as a Catholic at the behest of her father's family. She believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, and recently made her last confession with a dear Catholic Priest. She was a fiercely devoted friend and mother; when someone was in trouble, she was ready to help in any way she could. As a small child she had rheumatic fever and spent an entire year in the hospital and at Rotary Sunshine Camp for children, away from her family. This left a lasting impression on her to care for children needing special care. As a young woman in her 20s and 30s, she participated in multiple protests and political campaigns that helped define her neighborhood, her city, and her family. She is predeceased by her parents, her first husband Michael, her sister Diane, her son Jeffrey, and her grandson Jamiel. She leaves behind her devoted and grieving husband - who was her college sweetheart - Gary Dubroff, after 22 years of marriage; her sisters Dawn and Dale, her eldest son, Randall Terry; her grandchildren Benjamin and Jay Terry (from her son Jeffrey), and her grandchildren Tila, Faith, Randy, Michael, Justin, and Killian (from her son Randall), her daughter-in-law Andrea, and over 50 cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is and will be sorely missed by her family, and those who knew and loved her. May the light of God's countenance shine upon her, and grant her eternal joy in the presence of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Visitation will be Thursday, August 10, 2023 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church, 1644 Jackson Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee.
