Doris Marie Stevens, 74, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on September 6, 2023. She was born on January 26, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Ernest Lilton Henderson and Lillie Bell (Westbrook) Henderson. Doris is survived by her loving husband, Victor Stevens, and her siblings: Charles Henderson, Loretta Henderson, Teresa Henderson, Sheila Harris, Ernest Lilton Henderson Jr., Donna Houston, and Rita Houston. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and siblings: Josephine Fields, Ernestine Henderson Hernandez, and Fred Lee Henderson.

Doris was a kind, friendly, funny, and creative individual. She had a passion for books and dedicated a significant part of her life to working in the library system. Doris had a successful career with the Chicago Public Library System and the Memphis and Shelby County Public Library System.

Doris received her education from Douglass Elementary School and Douglass High School. She further pursued her studies at Tennessee State University and later attended Howard University Graduate School.

A ceremony to honor and celebrate Doris' life will be held at 12:30 PM on September 23, 2023, at the Orange Mound Senior Center. The Bartlett-Heritage Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bartlett, TN 38134 is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Doris Marie Stevens will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
