IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dottie
Harrison
February 7, 1930 – October 22, 2022
DORIS MARIE (DOTTIE) HARRISON, 92, passed away, October 22, 2022 from heart failure. She was born February 7, 1930, the youngest child of Frank and Cora Harrison, and the last of her siblings to pass away. Dottie worked in the medical field fifty years, retiring from the Veterans Administration Hospital at age 85. She came to Memphis as a young girl and raised her family of three children, Walter Mitchael, Phillip Gregory and Jacqueline Valencia Harrison, alone.
She was a long-time member of Bellevue Baptist Church, a child of God, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Frank "Red", Mack, Eva, Lena, Jerri and Fred; and her firstborn great-grandchild, Jazmine. She was affectionately known as Nanny to ten grandchildren, Ian Hunter, Stephanie, Daryl, Taylor, Dillon, Madison, Brandon and Vanessa Harrison, Briana Moore, and Larisa Boyer; and her seven great-grandchildren, Kael, Kacen, Jenna, Destiny, Isaiah, Alastair, and Freya. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two beloved nieces, Sharon and Debra. Family and friends will gather for a graveside service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Forest Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN.
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. I Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NIV)
Services are entrusted to Bartlett-Heritage Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
