IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria Taylor
Kirk
July 8, 1949 – July 16, 2025
Gloria Taylor Kirk, lovingly known as "Doey," age 76, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 8, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Hugh and Kathryn Taylor, Gloria lived a life marked by strength, warm hospitality, and an unwavering devotion to those she held dear.
To know Gloria was to love her — instantly, deeply, and forever. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and welcome, often with a plate of homemade comfort food in hand and a sparkle in her eye. Whether you were blood or just lucky enough to cross her path, you were family to her.
She was a loving and doting mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who found immense joy in the simplest things: a good cup of coffee, gathering her grandchildren for hugs and stories, and feeding anyone who came through her door. Her Chicken-N-Dumplins' were legendary; a recipe passed down with love, perfected with care, and never written down, only remembered.
Gloria spent over thirty years as a mortgage originator, a role she took pride in and excelled at. Her work ethic was matched only by her kindness. Clients often became friends, and colleagues became family.
She was known for her timeless style. Her signature blonde hair always perfectly in place, her nails immaculate, and her outfits effortlessly elegant. She was the embodiment of a true Southern woman.
Gloria, more lovingly known as Mimi, is survived by her children, Lance (Bethany) Jolly of Bartlett, TN, and Lindsay Jolly of Germantown, TN; five beloved grandchildren: Taylor(Laura), Madison (John), Emma, David, and Lincoln; and her cherished great-grandchild, Graham, with whom she shares a birthday.
She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Sheila (late Bo) Bryan of Arlington, TN and Donnie (Rickey) Berry of Perdido Key, FL, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Hugh and Kathryn Taylor, her brother-in-law Bo Bryan, and many cherished relatives who no doubt greeted her with open arms and a warm embrace.
A celebration of Gloria's life will be held Friday, July 25th at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett TN. Visitation starts at 10:00am with a funeral Mass following at 11:00am. The family invites all who loved her to come, share stories, and honor her memory in the way she lived-- with love, laughter, and good food.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Ann Catholic School, or The Alzheimer's Association in honor of Gloria's generous spirit and lifelong commitment to caring for others. She will be missed more than words can say but remembered with every story told around the table.
