On August 5, 2023, James Dana Adams, Sr. went to be with the Lord at the age of 74. He was born on December 19, 1948 in Humboldt, TN, graduating from Bartlett High School in 1967. Dana met his beloved wife Nancy in the 9th grade. They were high school sweethearts and married in 1968. He played football at Ouachita Baptist University before transferring to Memphis State University obtaining a bachelor's degree. Dana was a longtime member of Bellevue Baptist Church, serving as a door greeter for many years. He owned his own insurance and securities business, Adams and Associates, in Bartlett, TN. He lived in Bartlett for over 40 years. He served on the Bartlett Parks and Recreational Council and coached football for SYS Ellendale Bears. Dana loved traveling with his family to the beach where he would patiently help his grandchildren (and any child [or adult] on the beach who asked for help) ride waves on their boogie board and build sandcastles. He loved calling his grandchildren to tell them jokes, check on how they were doing at school and work, and make sure they were driving safely when they came in town to visit. Dana is predeceased by his parents, Margie and James C. Adams; his son, Dana Adams, Jr.; and daughter, April Adams. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Adams; daughter, Stephanie Stovall (Jeff Stovall); brother, Byron Adams (Valerie Adams); sister-in-law, Melissa Furr (Ed Furr); 5 grandchildren, Abbie Hale (Lucas Hale); Ginny Brooke Finney (Jordan Finney); Mitch Stovall (Kiersten Stovall); Kristen Adams; and Tully Woodard; and 2 great-grandchildren, Mitchell Finney and Adeline Finney. Family will receive friends on Thursday, the 10th of August, at 10am at Bellevue Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11am.
