JAMES D. McFARLAND, 88 passed away October 7, 2023.   James was born April 20, 1935 in Austin, Texas
to James and Phyllis McFarland.  He graduated from Austin High School and attended The University of
Texas, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering.  His love of working on cars and his exemplary
writing abilities led him on a 28 year path to Los Angeles, California where he became very well known in
the automotive industry.  He returned to Austin, Texas in 1993 and became self-employed as an
Engineering Consultant.  He and his wife Pat moved to Memphis in 2002 where he continued his
consulting career until his passing.  James is survived by his beloved wife, Pat McFarland and their son,
Paul.  True to his humble nature, James requested no formal funeral services.  Bartlett-Heritage Funeral
Home & Cremation Center is assisting Mrs. McFarland to see that Mr. McFarland's expressed wishes are
honored.
