James L. (Jim) Whittington, Jr. passed away July 20, 2026. He was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi October 10, 1943, to Dorothy Mae Moore Whittington and James L. Whittington, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois Ann Parrish Whittington and was a loving father of six children; Lisa Taylor (Gill), David Whittington (Vickie), Susan Obmoin (Max), Jeffrey Whittington, Jan Cisneros and Kelly Dodds. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He leaves a brother Richard Whittington (Carol) from Clarksdale, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his brother Bobby Whittington.

As a young man, he served his country in the Army National Guard. His early career choice was carpentry but spent most of his working years in the car industry. Jim was a member of Bartlett Baptist Church.

Jim loved God, his family and his many friends. His hobbies were woodworking, fishing, hunting and camping in his motor home with many camping friends. He was revered by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends August 1, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Bartlett Baptist Church, located at 3465 Kirby-Whitten Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee with a Memorial Service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
