Larry Ray Hileman, age 77, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, at the
Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee. He was born on August 7,
1948, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing two active tours
in Vietnam. His courage, dedication, and love of country were a source of pride to his
family and all who knew him.
He was married to the love of his life, Margaret Elizabeth Hileman (Peg), for 47
wonderful years. Their marriage was a testament to devotion, loyalty, and enduring love.
She preceded him in death, along with his parents, Homer and Alma Hileman.
Following his military service, Larry built a successful career working for himself in
commercial refrigeration. He was respected for his strong work ethic, mechanical skill,
and the pride he took in doing a job right.
Larry had a lifelong love of motorcycles and found great joy and freedom on the open
road. Along with riding, he enjoyed playing guitar in his garage band, sharing music,
laughter, and good times with friends. He also carried a well-known sense of humor and
competitive spirit, proudly referring to himself as the self-proclaimed "all-time poker
winner" at Popes Supply Company — a title he claimed with a grin and plenty of stories
to back it up.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Elaine O'Neal and her husband, Brian; his three
grandchildren, Ian, Nathan, and Adam O'Neal; and his sister, Claudia Hamil. He also
leaves behind extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Larry's life was marked by service, dedication, music, humor, and deep love for his
family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
