Laura Mae Harris Cecil, 86, of Arlington, TN. died September 17, 2024 at her home. She was born in Moscow, TN. July 20, 1938 to Dempsey Steven Harris and Allie Mae Vaughn Harris. Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Richard Cecil, Sr.; her daughter Lori Brown; her three brothers Carmack Harris, Feemster Harris and Thomas Harris; her sister Sylvia Nicholson; her son-in-law Charles McFall; and a granddaughter Casey McDaniel. She is survived by her children, Paula McFall, John Cecil, Jr. (Betty), and Dawn Walls (Travis); ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Laura graduated from Collierville High School and was a member of Collierville Baptist Church until she moved away after her marriage. She worked for Wonder Products, Plough Inc., and several insurance agencies.

Laura spent her summers gardening, canning, pickling and making jelly for her family. She also loved to sew and make crafts. She and John owned a lace business for several years.

Laura loved Jesus and prayed daily for her children and grandchildren to know their Savior. Her greatest legacy was her faith in Christ that she passed on to her family.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 23 at Harmony Church of Bartlett, 6740 St. Elmo Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38135 with funeral service at 2:00 p.m.   Her final reseing place is with her husband in the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
