Nancy Carroll Haynie, beloved mother of Debra Burnette, Gina Whitaker, and Richard (w/ wife Candice) Whitaker, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the age of 80.

She was born in 1943, in Roswell, NM, to Roy Jefferson Carroll and Dorothy Grace Morrison. She grew up in Albuquerque where she lived with her family until she was married. She then moved to Memphis, TN, where she raised her family.

She dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her enduring service to Christian Brothers High School where she worked for over four decades. Nancy's commitment to her loved ones and her community leaves a lasting legacy cherished by all who knew her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of thirty-six years, Jim D. Haynie, with whom she shared many cherished memories.

In addition to her children, Nancy was survived by her two brothers, Dr. James Carroll of Albuquerque, NM and Dr. Robert Carroll of Annandale, VA.; five grandchildren, Luke Burnette, Andrew Whitaker, Morgan Whitaker, Jacob Whitaker and Nathaniel Whitaker.

Nancy's devotion to her children was unmatched. As a mother, she provided boundless love, guidance, and encouragement, shaping their lives with her humble wisdom, selfless kindness and unwavering commitment. Her children, Debra, Gina, and Rick, carry forward her legacy of strength, resilience, and generosity. She will be remembered most for her infectious smile, her uncontrolled laughter and the fact that she never wanted anything material for herself, but just wanted her children and grandchildren to have a strong Christian faith.

Throughout her 40-year tenure at Christian Brothers High School, both indirectly as an independent cafeteria manager and directly as part of the office support staff, Nancy was an inspiration to others as a result of her dedication to the school, always sharing a warm smile radiating from her kind and gentle spirit. Her dedication to the school community extended beyond her role, as she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues with her warmth and compassion. Nancy's impact on Christian Brothers High School will be remembered by all whom she served.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Nancy was deeply committed to her faith, finding solace and strength in her spiritual journey. Her unwavering devotion to God guided her through life's joys and challenges, serving as a source of inspiration to her family. She served tirelessly in her early adult life supporting the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs at Barton Southern Methodist Church in Memphis, TN.
