IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard "Rick"
M. Shreeves
February 10, 1949 – August 12, 2021
Richard Melvin Shreeves (Rick) , 72, of Memphis, Tennessee departed this earth for his heavenly home on August 12, 2021. Rick was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on February 10, 1949. He was raised in a big family with 12 brothers and sisters.
He loved tinkering with electronics and earned four associates degrees in this field from North Arkansas Community College in Harrison, Arkansas.
He worked as a young boy picking cotton with his family in the fields of Arkansas. He worked at many odd jobs through the years such as playing in a band, disc jockey for a radio station, boiler operator just to name a few.
Then he found the love of trucking and bought his own trucks and started his own trucking business and retired many years later when health issues took over.
Rick was a veteran of the United States Army and received a medical honorable discharge. He sure liked to take advantage of those free meals and haircuts on veterans day too. He made the rounds.
Rick loved to travel and lived many places in his lifetime. He even rode a motor scooter all the way from Arkansas to California at the young age of 16. He lived there for many years and also in Wisconsin and Iowa!
He loved country and gospel music and some good ole rock and roll too. He loved the outdoors and traveling to different places! He enjoyed camping and boating with his brothers and family! He could never pass up a game of dominoes at family gatherings either and liked to win.
He met his wife Sharon in 2004 from a dating site online and they married on May 10, 2008. They were like two peas in a pod and very much enjoyed the time they had together! They enjoyed a cruise to Mexico and also traveled overseas to England to meet his wife's family and to surprise his wife's aunt on her 90th birthday! He met his cousins Janet and Brian for the first time! He and Brian Pearman became like brothers to one another!
Rick was the life of the party and never met a stranger. He loved to tease people especially the waitresses and nurses with his sarcastic humor. He loved life and was a gentle, kind man that believed in Jesus . To know him was to love him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Verna Shreeves, three brothers, Art Shreeves, Leroy Shreeves, and Fred Shreeves and two sisters Goldie Bell and Virginia Mae Shreeves
In addition to his wife of 12 years, Sharon Shreeves, he is survived by 4 sisters, Mildred Goad, Clair Donnelly, Mary/Jack Gardner and Shirley/Jerry Kersey.
He is also survived by 3 brothers, Ed/Linda Shreeves, Bill Shreeves, and Bobby/Kara Shreeves;
two daughters, Kimberly/Andy Kochendorfer and Lori Ann Shreeves-Callewaert;
two step children, J.D./Shelbie Hondlenk and Lindsay Hondlenk;
