Robert W Mercer passed away February 13 2024.
Wayne, as so many referred to him, was born 11/6/1942
Greenville Mississippi was where he spent most of his childhood until he enlisted in the United States
Navy. He served on the USS Scott Destroyer and traveled to many places around the world including a
tour of duty in Antarctica South Pole. After serving our country 20 years, he retired in 1983 as a Chief
Electronics Technician.
Hunting, fishing and camping were his favorite things to do. After his retirement from the Navy, every
October through December you could find him at his favorite deer camp sitting around a campfire with
his hunting buddies telling tales and waiting for the early morning to head to the deer stands. He was
also a faithful Dallas Cowboy's fan and cheered them on win or lose.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Shadden Mercer, his parents Iley and Etta Mercer, his sister,
Kathleen Cates Bennett.
He is survived by his brothers Raymond and wife Bunny, Merel and wife Michele, sister Dottie and
husband Bruce, Children Joel and wife Sonja, Daughter LeAnne and husband Billy.
Grand Children Brittini Patterson, Kelsey Mercer, Abbey Acroyd, Rachel Watson, Savanna Mercer,
Anna Phipps, Samantha Hamilton and Ali Hamilton. and 12 great grandchildren.
