Obituary

Early in the morning on May 22nd, our wife, mom, gramma, great gramma, and friend peacefully fell asleep for the last time at the age of 75. Sandy was surrounded by her husband Bill Morgan, and her children Jimmy (Kim) Brannon, Jessica (Kevin) Smith, and Jeff Brannon at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Sandy developed pneumonia after surgery, and she eventually lost her fight. We couldn't be prouder of how hard she battled, always our little engine that could!

Sandy was born and raised in Detroit, MI by a single mom. She was extremely proud of her Mom, her siblings, and her Polish heritage (and their sweets). We find comfort in her joining her Mom (Eleanor & her Hugh), her sister Jackie (George), and her little brother Mark. She still has family and friends in Michigan, but has called Memphis, TN her home since 1981. She will also be missed by her stepson Brad (Dawson) Morgan, her grandchildren Zach & Alex (Taylor) Starr, Katie & Jake Brannon, Max & Emory Morgan, Katelyn (Paul) Pugh, and her great grandchildren Elizabeth Starr and Beau & Rowan Pugh.

Sandy was very proud of her career that she started later in life as a single mother while in her late 30's. She started in the medical field in the mid 80's at Medical Art Center at Saint Francis Hospital. She later went on to be the administrator at Hickory Hill Medical Clinic, and then Forest Hill Medical Clinic. After the latter was acquired by Baptist Memorial Hospital Group, she advanced to Director level. She excelled because of her hard work, her goal-oriented mindset, and her personality that made everybody she came into contact with feel appreciated, respected, and special. Her passions outside of work were traveling, zipping around in her car, playing cards (for money), dancing, and always being the hostess. She enjoyed pool volleyball at Garner Lake, boat rides, and trips to Hot Springs. She had a green thumb and especially loved Orchids and Gerber Daisies. She loved and cherished her husband and family more than anything.

"To know her is to love her" stands out when talking about Sandy. She made everybody feel welcome and loved, no matter where she was, no matter what was going on around her, and no matter how busy and stressed she was at the time. She was always the cool Mom growing up to all of her children's friends. She was the great manager that fought for her employees and the biggest cheerleader for anybody that she loved, even people she had yet to meet that were simply loved by her children and grandchildren. She was the Wrecking Ball at poker night, and all of our friends knew it. We are going to miss her traditions at Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving, her birthday phone calls, and especially, her laugh and snorts. Quite honestly, we are not sure if anything is going to be the same going forward. We were blessed to have her in our life, there was no greater gift that we have ever received.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Memphis's MIFA if you feel called to do so. If you know of a single parent in need, secretly helping them out during the holidays or when you can afford to will honor Sandy. We will be celebrating Sandy's life at Ridgeway Country Club on June 8, 2023, from 4pm - 8pm.
