IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Ruth
Adams
May 30, 1935 – December 16, 2025
Shirley Ruth Adams, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and the heart of her family, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025. Born on May 30, 1935, in Covington, Tennessee, Shirley lived a life defined by devotion, resilience, and quiet strength—serving as a true matriarch to generations of loved ones.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Max Winford and Ruth Leach; her beloved husband of 61 years, Willie "Sonny" Adams; her daughter, Tammy Brown; and her son, James "Jimbo" Adams. Though her heart endured great loss, her spirit remained rooted in love and care for her family.
She leaves behind three children who carry forward her legacy: Patricia Wooley; Gary Adams (Tresa); and Lorrie Sanders (David). Shirley was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Vickie Weeks (Ronnie), Tony Wooley (Marinda), Gabriel Adams, Michael Adams (Jessica), Ashley Rainey (Derek), Amanda Walton (John), Angela Fenley (Greg), Kristen Sanders, and Adam Sanders (Brittany). Her joy extended to seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, each a testament to the family she so lovingly built.
A beloved homemaker, Shirley devoted her life to raising five children and creating a home filled with warmth, care, and stability. Her presence was steady and nurturing—she was the one others turned to for comfort, wisdom, and unwavering support. She found happiness in simple pleasures: shopping trips, watching her favorite game shows, and vacationing in Florida, where she enjoyed moments of relaxation and sunshine.
Shirley Ruth Adams will be remembered for her gentle strength, her deep love for her family, and the enduring legacy of compassion she leaves behind. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a guiding light that will continue to shine through all who knew her.
