William "Bill" Giles of Cordova, TN died at Saint Francis Hospital in Bartlett, TN on July 4th, 2021 due to complications with pulmonary hypertension. He was 71.  Bill was born on June 28th, 1950 in Council Bluffs, IA to parents Kenneth and Marjorie Giles. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School of Council Bluffs in 1968. In August 1980 he married Valerie Whitehorn, adopting her then two year old daughter Melanie and going on to have two more daughters together, Jill and Jessica, before their divorce in 2019.  During his career Bill explored several paths, including pilot and mechanic, before becoming an accomplished computer programmer with several companies in the manufacturing industry until his retirement in 2013.  A true "Renaissance" man, after his retirement, he dedicated his remaining time to spending time with family and working on his many creative pursuits and hobbies; including 3D printing, boating, camping, Christmas lighting, gardening, model aircraft and cooking.  Bill is survived by his daughter Melanie Smyth of Independence, MO; daughter Jill Giles of Greenville, SC; daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Grant Morrow of Memphis, TN; sister Connie Allan; brother Dale Giles; mother Marjorie Giles; and five grandchildren - Louis Giles, Kylee Smyth, Haylee Smyth, Madelynn Smyth, and Cordelia Morrow.  A memorial service will take place on July 17th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Church of Bartlett, TN to celebrate his life.
